This section of the ALumni Association Online Career Center allows you to search for approved ads posted by employers. All ads and employers have been screened by alumni staff in an attempt to avoid any employment scams. That being said, please bear in mind the following checklist when applying for jobs through any venue to avoid employment scams:
-
Be leery of ads guaranteeing employment and too-good-to-be-true salaries with no experience necessary.
-
Beware of upfront payments for training, materials, job leads or background checks.
-
Don't pay for assistance in getting a government job. No third party can give you a leg up in the selection process.
-
Be suspicious of unsolicited emails and online ads with misspellings and grammatical errors.
-
Limit personal information on your résumé. Do not divulge your social security number, driver's license number or financial informaiton before a face-to-face interview and job offer.
-
Check out the company with the Better Business Bureau, state attorney general and local consumer protection agency. Also, call the company to make sure the contact is an employee authorized to make job offers.
