On May 30, Broward College Alumni & Friends participated in the 2024 College Academy at Broward College Senior Awards Night at Bailey Hall, which was a celebration of the achievements of the Academy's 2024 graduating class. The College Academy at Broward College is a dual enrollment program where the best and brightest students from around the county earn their high school diploma and an Associate of Art degree simultaneously. These newest graduates received an official welcome as Broward College's newest alumni along with an alumni pin which will be a reminder of the foundation they received at our college. 

The 220 new graduates collectively were offered in excess of $21 million in scholarship monies and were slated to attend 41 colleges and universities, including one graduate who will pursue studies in Europe. They are recipients of some of the most prestigious awards in the nation, such as the Gates Foundation Scholars, Ron Brown Scholars, Posse, Questbridge, Jack Kent Cooke and others. 

College Academy principal Bardetta Haygood had this to say about this exemplary class of graduates:

“This year has culminated with an extensive list of honors and recognition for our graduates. The Class of 2024 has achieved far beyond measure. They benefit from the array of academic specializations and enrichment opportunities that exist on the Broward College campuses. With such a large number of our students being first generation college goers, we rest in the knowledge that we are deeply impacting the future of our local and the larger community. 

Our graduates will go on to amazing careers, with their first degree earned at Broward College—an honor to be alumnus of one of the best colleges in the nation!​”
