Joseph Torviso, a passionate sports journalist and a standout member of our College Academy at Broward College alumni community!
His journey through the world of sports journalism has been nothing short of impressive, filled with incredible experiences and achievements.
Joseph graduated from the University of Florida in Fall 2024 with a Bachelor's in Sports Journalism and a minor in Sports Management.
While at UF, Joseph began an internship with Inside the Gators, covering post-game press conferences for Florida’s home football games. His insightful reporting and keen observations from the press box quickly established him as a trusted source among Gator fans. He continued his work with Inside the Gators by covering the Gator basketball team, further building his reputation as a dedicated and reliable sports journalist.
In his final semester, Joseph wore many hats: he was a reporter for Inside the Gators, a sports editor for ESPN Gainesville, a radio producer for ESPN WRUF, and a podcaster and commentator for the Orange and Blue Sports Network. Joseph began honing his journalism skills through a unique program offered by the University of Florida in partnership with ESPN, allowing students to cover high school, college, and professional sports for ESPN WRUF Sports Radio 850. Starting in Spring 2023, Joseph covered local high school teams, and by Fall, he was writing pre-game articles for top collegiate football teams like Arkansas and Georgia.
Joseph also had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Summer 2023, traveling to the UK where he explored London, Manchester, and Liverpool. During this time, he delved into the history and culture of football in the UK, culminating in an article covering the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. Joseph highly recommends the study abroad experience to any student who has the opportunity to participate.
As of February 2025, he was pursuing a Master's degree in Sports Management from the Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid Universidad Europea.
