College Academy at Broward College alumna Julia Trillo graduated in 2017 and went on to attend Hofstra University, where she pursued a B.S. in Health Science. During her undergraduate years, she actively engaged in leadership roles, becoming the VP of Risk Management for Alpha Phi Fraternity and later serving as president of PHI DELTA EPSILON Medical Fraternity (PhiDE), the pre-medical fraternity. Leading PhiDE during the height of the global pandemic presented numerous challenges, but also sparked a significant shift in her career path.
Switching gears, Julia pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) during her final year at Hofstra. She graduated with her B.S. in Health Science in 2021, and completed her MPH in May 2022.
During her graduate thesis, Julia worked with Northwell Health on a program supporting pregnant women with opioid use disorder (OUD) and newborns with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). Together, they developed a physician-reviewed resource packet, which was distributed to over 300 clinics within the health system—an achievement that ignited Julia’s passion for maternal-child health.
Since January 2022, Julia has worked with VNS Health Nurse-Family Partnership, an organization supporting at-risk first-time mothers throughout their pregnancy and until their child’s second birthday. She helped launch the NFP Alumni Alliance, a program fostering a supportive community for graduates of NFP, with nearly 200 members and growing. Being a key part of this program’s development has been one of Julia’s proudest accomplishments.
In February 2024, Julia was promoted to Program Supervisor and enrolled in her company’s leadership program.
We are incredibly proud of Julia’s contributions to public health and her continued success in maternal-child healthcare. We know she’ll keep making a positive impact in the field!
