College Academy alumna Mya Watson is a recent graduate ofThe Johns Hopkins Universityand a first-year medical student atFlorida International UniversitySchool of Medicine.
Mya earned her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University, where she developed a passion for integrating social determinants of health into patient care. During her time as a community health worker, Mya worked closely with patients, helping them connect to vital resources such as food stamps, transportation, and health insurance, which further deepened her commitment to addressing healthcare disparities.
In addition to her community work, Mya participated in neuroscience research exploring the relationship between Atrial Fibrillation and Alzheimer's Disease—a topic she hopes to continue studying during medical school at FIU.
Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Mya enjoys writing poetry and singing in her church's choir, embracing her creative side and staying connected with her community.
We are incredibly proud of Mya’s journey and her dedication to improving patient care through her work in both medicine and community health. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in her medical career.
