Skyller Cosme, MPP, is an accomplished alumna of the Class of 2020 who has been dedicated to public service and policy advocacy since graduating from the College Academy at Broward College. After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, Skyller earned a BA in Political Science in May 2022. Her passion for public policy was evident early on, with a summer internship at the Florida Justice Institute (FJI), a non-profit law firm focused on the rights of incarcerated people.
During her time at UCF, Skyller also worked with Florida Student PIRGs, championing campaigns for 100% renewable energy, promoting open-source textbooks, and establishing SNAP enrollment opportunities on campus. These initiatives demonstrated her commitment to sustainability and student welfare.
With a drive to make a broader impact, Skyller pursued a Master of Public Policy at Georgetown University, graduating in May 2024. Her graduate studies allowed her to deepen her knowledge in statistics, economics, and government, thanks to the guidance of mentors like Dr. Marie Borrazzo, Dr. Jason Aiken, and Professor Michael O'Neill
Throughout her second year in the MPP program, Skyller gained hands-on experience as a Lobbying and Policy Intern at Thompson Coburn LLP, monitoring critical legislation related to education, health, energy, and more. Additionally, she served as the Business Director for the Georgetown Public Policy Review (GPPR), managing funds and organizing events for the campus academic journal.
Now based in Washington, DC, Skyller has worked as a Policy Associate at the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) where she supported the growth of the US Policy Fellowship program and contributed to the Child Policy Hub, aiming to enhance evidence-based policymaking in child and family policy.
In December 2024, she began working with Partner Forces, a management consulting fiurm helping governments and commercial client.
We are immensely proud of Skyller's dedication to public service and her commitment to improving the lives of children and families through thoughtful policy work. Her journey exemplifies the power of education, passion, and advocacy.
